Community Garden Project

The project aims to create a community garden promoting wellness and learning in the areas of gardening, food cultivation and healthy living. The project hopes to provide a space which will enhance the quality of life of those who visit the garden in terms of their physical and mental wellbeing and will provide the opportunity for personal and social development.

It is one of the aims of the Nenagh Community Wellness Garden to raise awareness of the importance of the Arts in our lives. Inspiration and imagination grow in an environment where people feel free to explore their own individuality through creative endeavors, where one can share one’s experiences with each other: this is where the Arts play a role in building a more sustainable future for the generations to come.

Silver Arch FRC has been a member of the Steering group committee of the Nenagh Community Garden project since the early consultations started and is determined to support the project through the participation of its client groups and in giving support where possible to create a safe, friendly and inclusive environment for all to enjoy.

This project is bringing together various agencies in the community working in different sectors. While respecting individual needs, this project will also meet the needs of groups who share common goals. Silver Arch FRC aims to support and empower vulnerable individuals and families to participate in their own personal development and in the development of people in their communities. Through participation in this project, individuals and groups will develop a capacity to know themselves and each other by sharing knowledge, experience and skills. The awareness and learning will bring many benefits to the lives of families, friends and the broader community.

The medium used –the garden, the soil, nature and the surrounding environment within an urban environment- will offer another dimension to ‘urban living’. It will demonstrate that both are compatible and that the power of nature and the wonder of the seasons adds to the enjoyment of a fuller and healthier life.

Silver Arch FRC is privileged to be a member of the project. While funds are scarce, this is a venture which offers value for money.
